MLB Signs Perform As Another Authorized Data Distributor

MLB has struck a data partnership with Perform in which the company has gained non-exclusive rights as an authorized data distributor for the league to sports betting operators in the U.S. The agreement is MLB’s second data deal to service sports betting operators following one the league finalized in February with Sportradar. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal will involve Perform delivering official MLB data through its RunningBall service that also is used by the EPL, La Liga and other entities.

Similar to the NBA’s broad strategy for sports betting data, MLB Exec VP/Gaming & New Ventures Kenny Gersh said baseball’s push toward multiple data providers “will help drive competition and innovation in the sports betting landscape, providing MLB fans with the best gaming experiences possible.” Signing multiple official data providers also helps drive down pricing. Perform is still considering a sale of company assets, including its sports data collection and distribution businesses, in order to help DAZN fund sports rights acquisitions.
