Sports Commissioners, NFL Owners Attending Benson's Funeral

Saints and Pelicans Owner Tom Benson's funeral mass is set for today in New Orleans, and "five current and former sports league commissioners" plan to attend -- Roger GoodellAdam SilverPaul Tagliabue, David Stern and David Baker. NFL VPs Jeff Pash and Joe Siclare are "expected to join Goodell at the ceremony." Several NFL owners are "expected to pay their respects," including the Cowboys' Jerry Jones, Panthers' Jerry Richardson, Vikings' Mark and Zygi Wilf and representatives of the Bears' McCaskey family. Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and former Gov. Bobby Jindal headline an "impressive roster of political leaders that also includes" New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Mayor-elect LaToya Cantrell (NOLA.com, 3/22).

Pelicans C Anthony Davis was "asked to be one of the honorary pallbearers" today, and that group will include Pelicans GM Dell Demps, coach Alvin Gentry, Saints coach Sean Payton, QB Drew Brees and Administrative Dir Jay Romig. Among the "eight pallbearers carrying the casket" will be Saints execs Dennis Lauscha, Mickey Loomis, Greg Bensel, Ed Lang, Ben Hales and Michael Stanfield (NOLA.com, 3/22).
