Richmond Raceway's Esports Effort To Include Season-Long Tourney

Richmond Raceway this morning will unveil a multi-faceted esports campaign that will include a season-long weekly racing video game tournament, plus several day-long tournaments at the track. Among the initiatives is a two-day "NASCAR Heat 2" tournament at the track's Jan. 26-27 season preview event, plus the debut of a new racing simulator that has been built into an actual stock car and will allow users to virtually race on the iRacing platform. Richmond also will also have a weekly online "NASCAR Heat 2" tournament that will run from February-November. This comes as NASCAR is working on a broader esports initiative for tracks across the sport that may have some similar elements to Richmond's standalone plan, but it has yet to be unveiled.
