Union Leaders In DC To Roll Out "Declaration Of Player Rights"

Leaders from players unions/associations in Europe and North America are set to meet in DC today to announce what they are calling a "Universal Declaration of Player Rights." At a 10:00am ET press conference, NHLPA Exec Dir Don Fehr, NBPA Exec Dir Michele Roberts and NFLPA Exec Dir DeMaurice Smith will join player leaders from Europe, including EU Athletes General Secretary Jeff Reymond, FIFPro Secretary General Theo van Seggelen and World Players Association Exec Dir Brendan Schwab. The declaration document establishes new benchmarks for global sports governance and collective bargaining in the areas of education, privacy, protection of name/image and freedom of expression, among other things.
