Inglewood City Council Meeting On Clippers Arena Gets Heated
Last night's Inglewood City Council meeting saw "more than a dozen people raise concerns" about a proposed new Clippers arena, and the "contentious exchanges highlighted a lingering divide over the possible project." Some project supporters faulted MSG, which "owns the nearby Forum, for the opposition and called it 'fake news.'" Speaking for the Clippers was developer Chris Meany, who said that the team "would need between 15 and 20 acres" and that the "Clippers 'would never' participate in any effort to displace residents or a church." However, "virtually no details about the possible privately funded arena have been made public" (L.A. TIMES, 8/16).
