Sharks Celebrate Club's 25th Anniversary With SAP Center Event

The Sharks last night at SAP Center celebrated the franchise's 25th anniversary. The event included NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Sharks Owner Hasso Plattner, team execs, local officials, current and former players and "a few thousand fans." Players were "introduced one by one as they walked down the arena stairs towards the floor." Speakers included San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, former mayor Tom McEnery, San Jose Mercury News writer Mark Purdy and Sharks Sports & Entertainment advisory board member Scott McNealy (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 1/20).

Plattner, when asked what it would mean for the Sharks to win a Stanley Cup, said, “Everything. Then we will all (get) drunk for two nights, including the players” (CSNBAYAREA.com, 1/19).
