NBA To Produce Global Games Event In 4K Ultra HD Format
The NBA today will conduct an experimental broadcast of the Knicks-Bucks Global Games contest in London in 4K ultra HD resolution. The separate broadcast production, involving eight cameras and a full array of replays and graphics, will be the first major test for the league in the enhanced format. The NBA is believed to be the first major U.S. pro sports league to show a game in 4K. Developed in partnership with U.K. broadcast partner BT Sport, the 4K feed today will be shown to invited guests at The O2 arena, and also streamed back to NBA HQ in N.Y.
“This is a great opportunity to get a first look at this and have a real hands-on experience with 4K,” said NBA Exec VP/Operations & Technology Steve Hellmuth. “We think this could be a really immersive way to watch the sport.”
