Judge This Week To Decide On CSN Houston Bankruptcy Proposal
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur starting today will decide "whether to accept a proposal" reorganizing Comcast SportsNet Houston into a "new partnership" owned by AT&T and DirecTV. Under the plan, which is supported by the Rockets and Astros but "opposed by Comcast," the buyers will "rebrand the network as Root Sports Houston and provide carriage on U-Verse and DirecTV." The network "will drop most non-game programming," with 96 of 141 employees to be laid off. The teams "will lose their equity" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 10/6).
