Fernando Soler Signs Contract To Remain Head Of IMG Tennis

IMG, a division of William Morris Endeavor, has re-signed Fernando Soler as head of the tennis division. IMG confirmed the Spaniard had re-signed, but declined to provide other details. A source said he signed for another three years. Soler assumed the top tennis spot in '06. He has been with the firm since '86 after playing professionally from '79-84. Since the William Morris deal closed earlier this year, IMG Tennis has been particularly aggressive signing players, recently adding Petra Kvitova and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The company is also actively looking to sign Eugenie Bouchard, whose deal with Lagardere ends at the end of next month.

Under Soler, IMG Tennis has maintained its status as a premier tennis agency, with stars like Maria Sharapova, Li Na, and Novak Djokovic, not to mention events like the Miami Open. During Soler’s time running tennis, the agency lost star clients Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. They left with their IMG agents to form their own boutique agencies.
