China Official Reclaims IOC Post; Dick Pound Falls Short Of Exec Board
China’s Yu Zaiqing today was elected as IOC VP, “reclaiming a position he previously held for four years” from ’08-12. Yu, who ran unopposed, has been an IOC member since ’00 and served on the Exec Board from ’04-12. Yu "takes the spot vacated by Thomas Bach after his election" as IOC President in September.
In another vote, Turkey’s Ugur Erdener defeated Canada’s Dick Pound for a spot on the Exec Board by a vote 51-42 (AP, 2/7).
