Ocala City Council To Hear Proposal For Single-A Yankees Ballpark
Ocala, Fla., city staff today will present to the City Council an agreement with the Yankees about "possibly relocating" the team's Single-A Florida State League affiliate from Tampa to Ocala. The discussion will include "details of a proposed stadium/entertainment complex." Ocala Mayor Kent Guinn said that the ballpark would cost an estimated $45M, "which would include developing the property and providing the infrastructure." If approved, the venue "could be open for the 2016 baseball season" (OCALA STAR-BANNER, 10/26).
