The St. Paul City Council today is expected to approve an $8.5M bond issue for a new 7,000-seat ballpark for the independent American Association St. Paul Saints. The council will also review “the development agreement and a separate use agreement” (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 10/23).

UFC President Dana White last night announced that Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva will serve as coaches on the third season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 10/22).

Lydia Ko, a 16-year-old golfer from New Zealand, announced on Twitter yesterday that “she has turned professional.” Ko also made a YouTube video with All Blacks rugby player Israel Dagg, “who jokingly offered to caddie for Ko” (GOLFWEEK.com, 10/22).

MLB is running a full-page ad in this morning’s USA Today featuring images of Cardinals RF Carlos Beltran, P Adam Wainwright, Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia and DH David Ortiz with the header, “We Play For October” (THE DAILY).
