Third Grand Prix Of Baltimore To Test Race's Long-Term Viability
Grand Prix of Baltimore preliminary events got underway this morning ahead of Sunday's race, and the third iteration of the event "should provide a good indication" of whether IndyCar can "establish itself as a viable permanent institution in Baltimore" (Baltimore SUN, 8/29). Race GM Tim Mayer said that "ticket sales remain on pace." Event organizer Race On said that it "expects a large walk-up crowd, especially if there's no rain in the forecast." Mayer: "A lot of our final push is going to depend on what people see when they turn on the television" (Baltimore SUN, 8/30).
