PGA Championship Ticket Sales Hit Single-Day Record For '14 Event

The '14 PGA Championship set for Louisville's Valhalla Golf Club yesterday "broke the tournament's single-day record" for ticket sales "less than four hours after they were first made available to the public" at 10:00am ET. The single-day PGA Championship sales record previously belonged to the '12 event at Kiawah Island Golf Resort (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 8/13).

Meanwhile, PGA of America Senior Sales Dir Mike Quirk said that merchandise sales at the Oak Hill golf shop for this year's tourney were the "highest at a PGA Championship in at least seven years, possibly more, as the numbers are still being tabulated." He added that "more than 80,000 transactions were processed during the nine-plus days the 32,000-square-foot tent was open." Quirk: "We had sell-through across all categories" (ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE, 8/13).
