Keith Olbermann Returning To ESPN After 16-Year Hiatus

ESPN today is expected to announce that Keith Olbermann "will return to host a one-hour, nightly show for ESPN2 later this year." Olbermann will be "free to discuss matters other than sports, including pop culture and current events, but not politics." The move to bring Olbermann back after a 16-year hiatus "was the result of 14 months" of talks within ESPN and Walt Disney. ESPN execs said that Olbermann will help the net "face the challenge presented by the launch of Fox Sports 1" (N.Y. TIMES, 7/17). The show "will originate from the ABC News 'Nightline' studio overlooking Times Square" (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 7/16).
