Planning Commission Holding Hearing On Mall Near Mets' Ballpark

The N.Y. City Planning Commission today will hold a public hearing on a "proposed mega-mall" near Citi Field. This comes after Queens Borough President Helen Marshall "gave her solid blessing to the 1.4-million-square-foot shopping mall on what is currently the baseball stadium parking lot – though Marshall did add some caveats" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/10).

Meanwhile, the developers of the American Dream Meadowlands project yesterday filed suit against NFL Jets and Giants ownership, "accusing the teams of an 'unlawful campaign' to delay the construction." Triple Five Inc. also "accused the teams' owners of breach of contract for reneging on a 'cooperation agreement' with the project's previous developers." This comes after the Giants and Jets "filed their own suit to halt the expansion of the existing site" (NJ.com, 7/9).
