"NFL investigations / Oh, don't make me laugh" – Lyrics from Jay-Z's song "La Familia," on his upcoming album "Magna Carta Holy Grail." The line is a reference to the NFLPA looking into his newly launched Roc Nation Sports agency (NYDAILYNEWS.com, 7/1).

"Tanking, I think, is ridiculous. This is the Boston Celtics and we have a tradition and we have a culture that we’re trying to create" – Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/2).

"Oh boy. Expectations have come down over at Spike TV these days if you’re dancing about 500,000 viewers. Good for you" – UFC President Dana White, poking fun at the viewership for Spike TV's new show, "Fight Master" (LAS VEGAS SUN, 7/2).

"Not sure if I would want it back because you are kind of in limbo" – Univ. of Missouri basketball coach Frank Haith, on the potential return of an NCAA rule that would allow players to play college ball again if they are not picked in the NBA Draft but do not sign with an agent (ESPN.com, 7/1).

"It’s amazing. It’s really amazing that that kind of money is being spent on somebody who’s not going to play for you. As I said before, I don’t believe in them. I don’t think we should have them. I don’t think teams should be allowed out of them" – Capitals GM George McPhee, on compliance buyouts in the NHL (CSNWASHINGTON.com, 6/30).

"Going to have to buy some winter jackets" – Georgia Tech basketball coach Brian Gregory, on playing road games against new ACC members Syracuse, Notre Dame and Pitt (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 7/2).
