Dallas City Council Approves Deal To Facilitate Byron Nelson Move
The Dallas City Council yesterday authorized a deal that brings the HP Byron Nelson Championship's future move to southern Dallas "nearer to fruition." Ahead of today's start of the PGA Tour event, the Council agreed to lease land to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas for constructing a "new championship course." City Hall has pledged up to $12M to "prepare the old landfill property along South Loop 12 for development." In exchange, the city received an "assurance that the Nelson will move from Irving to Dallas by 2019 and that the private group will invest" at least $20M in the course (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/16).
