West Ham United Today To Be Confirmed As Olympic Stadium Tenants
London Mayor Boris Johnson today will confirm West Ham United's tenancy of Olympic Stadium "at a press conference overlooking" the stadium. The London Legacy Development Corp. will "hand the keys" of the venue to the EPL club more than "two years after West Ham were first named preferred bidders for what is a 99-year lease." The press conference will also unveil renderings of what the stadium could look like following a US$225M renovation slated to be completed in '16 (London TELEGRAPH, 3/22).
The renovations will include retractable seating over the stadium's running track "and a cantilevered roof" that will make the venue suitable for both soccer and track & field events (GUARDIAN, 3/22).
