USOC Expected To Name Spire Institute An Independent Training Site

The USOC today is expected to announce a deal making the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, its 13th independent Olympic training site in a move that is "considered to be a coup for the massive sports complex located 40 miles east of Cleveland." Athletes in track & field and men’s wheelchair basketball "will be the first to arrive at Spire, and other sports could follow." Today's announcement will coincide with Spire hosting Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships and the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 2/22).
