In "Symbolic" Vote, Sacramento Council Supports Effort To Keep Kings
The Sacramento City Council last night approved a resolution "throwing its support behind keeping the Kings in town and contributing resources toward a new downtown sports arena." The "symbolic" measure, which passed 7-2, shows the body is "willing to get behind Mayor Kevin Johnson's quest to block the Kings' plan to move to Seattle." It also demonstrated there is an "appetite" for providing a city subsidy for a new facility. It is "unclear what the city will be asked to contribute to the arena project" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 2/20).
