Columbia Sportswear's Q4 Profits Up 8% Despite Warmer Winter
Columbia Sportswear posted an 8% profit increase for Q4 '12, but "warmer-than-usual winter weather in North America continues to threaten the company." Columbia made a $39.5M profit, or $1.15 per diluted share, in the period, up 8% from $36.7M, or $1.08 per diluted share, in the year-ago period. Sales were down 5% to $501.1M, compared to Q4 '11. For FY '12 as a whole, "profit and sales were both down slightly" (Portland OREGONIAN, 2/7).
