NBA Schedules Nine Games For Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The NBA today continues its tradition of celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a full slate of games. Nine games are scheduled for today, with four to be televised nationally in the U.S. across ESPN, TNT and NBA TV. The first game of the day is Pacers-Grizzlies at 1:00pm ET in Memphis, home of the Civil Rights Museum. The league also is promoting "NBA Slam Dunk Monday," a series of live games to be shown in primetime by multiple TV partners in Europe (NBA).

Nets F Jerry Stackhouse said, "We play in a city where one of the pioneers who transcended sports played, in Jackie Robinson. Now we'll get the chance to honor a guy who transcended the world in his belief in equality and things like that. It's a great thing" (NYPOST.com, 1/20).
