Cotton Bowl Could See Record Crowd With Texas A&M-Oklahoma Tilt

Cotton Bowl President & CEO Rick Baker is predicting a crowd of about 87,000 at Cowboys Stadium for tonight's AT&T Cotton Bowl between Texas A&M and Oklahoma. The total could "rival the bowl's record of 88,175" in '09 when Ole Miss played Texas Tech. The record college football crowd in Cowboys Stadium is 90,413, set at this year's Alabama-Michigan game. The expected attendance would be the second highest this bowl season, trailing only the Rose Bowl's attendance of 93,359 for the Stanford-Wisconsin matchup (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 1/4).

Fox officials expect the Texas A&M-Oklahoma matchup "to be the No. 3 most-watched game of the bowl season," behind the BCS National Championship and the Rose Bowl (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 1/4).

Meanwhile, a “sellout crowd of 70,242 at University of Phoenix Stadium” watched Oregon defeat Kansas State 35-10 in last night’s Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Salem STATESMAN JOURNAL, 1/4). The crowd was up slightly from the 69,927 who watched last year’s Oklahoma State-Stanford matchup, and was the best attendance for the Fiesta Bowl since 73,227 watched the Boise State-TCU matchup in ’10 (THE DAILY).
