Dolphins, Sponsors Buy Enough Tickets To Avoid Sunday Blackout

The Dolphins last night announced that they "have complied with the NFL requirements" to have Sunday's home game against the Jaguars shown on local CBS affiliates. Ahead of yesterday's 1:00pm ET deadline, the team and its sponsors "opted to purchase thousands of their own tickets to ensure that the game is televised locally" (PALM BEACH POST, 12/14).

The Chargers announced that Sunday's home game against the Panthers will not be shown on live TV in Southern California, marking the team's fourth blackout in seven home games this year. The Dec. 30 season finale against the Raiders "isn't expected to be blacked out." A Chargers spokesperson said that "club level seats and other 'scattered' tickets are available" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 12/14).

The Raiders have been granted an extension by the NFL "in hopes of selling enough tickets to prevent a blackout" of their final home game of the season Sunday against the Chiefs (MERCURYNEWS.com, 12/13).
