Crowd Of 1 Million Expected For MLB Giants' Championship Parade

S.F. today will host a World Series victory parade for the Giants starting at 11:00am PT, and city officials are "expecting a similar turnout" to the estimated 1 million who attended the team's '10 championship parade (USA TODAY, 10/31). The parade will begin "at the foot of Market Street" and will culminate a victory celebration at Civic Center Plaza. It will air on area network affiliates, as well as KRON 4 and Comcast SportsNet Bay Area (BAY AREA NEWS GROUP, 10/30).

With both Halloween and the parade on the same day, "the city only has to clean up one big mess" (SFGATE.com, 10/30). David Thomas, who is creating the floats for the parade, said, "After Game 1, we got a call to stand by. Around Game 3, we got a go-ahead to start building – but we cheated a little and started before then" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 10/31).

MLB runs an ad in USA Today congratulating the Giants with the copy, "The City By The Bay Never Stopped Believin'" (THE DAILY).
