Obama Touches On World Series, NHL Lockout On "Tonight Show"

President Obama appeared last night on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” as the only guest in the broadcast and discussed several sports topics.

Obama said of the World Series, “Detroit beat my White Sox out of a pennant, so they're an outstanding team. I will say that I have spent a lot of time in Detroit lately and you know, I didn't want to let Detroit go bankrupt. So in this particular World Series, I may be a little partial.”

He also addressed the ongoing NHL lockout: “I just want to remind the owners and the players, you guys make money because you have a whole bunch of fans out there who are working really hard. They buy tickets. They’re watching on TV. You should be able to figure this out. Get this done” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 10/24).
