The PGA Tour Open tees off today a CordeValle Golf Club, and tournament President Duke Butler "estimates 60,000 fans will head to the rolling hills south of San Jose" over the course of the event. That is "about 25,000 more than attended the Open's 2010 debut at CordeValle but 15,000 fewer than came a year ago when Tiger Woods made his first appearance." This year's tourney honors pro golfer-turned-broadcaster Ken Venturi (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 10/11).

Meanwhile, Japan-based testing and measurement firm Anritsu Co. announced a renewal of its deal to sponsor the tournament (Anritsu).
