Poll Finds Far More Fans Of Yankees In New Jersey Than Phillies, Mets

A Quinnipiac Univ. poll released this morning found that New Jersey baseball fans prefer the Yankees over the Phillies 51% to 21%, while the Mets "lagged behind" with 15% of respondents. The Red Sox came in a "distant fourth" at 3%. Of the South Jersey residents polled, the Phillies took the top spot with 79%. Of those surveyed, 54% said that they are "either very or somewhat interested" in MLB. Quinnipiac surveyed 1,758 New Jersey adults from May 9-14, and the results have an error margin of 2.3% (Bergen RECORD, 5/18).
