Mazda North American Operations extended its naming-rights deal for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula for five more years. The track in the past 10 years has added "permanent pit lane garages, permanent luxury hospitality suites and expanded track runoff areas" (MONTEREY COUNTY HERALD, 5/11).

FIFA yesterday began its second phase of goalline technology testing, and today testers will use humans to "enact goalmouth scenes." Tests will be conducted next week during two matches, including the Hampshire FA Senior Cup Final, "before the final session in laboratories" (LONDON TIMES, 5/11).

Int'l broadcasting group MTG today announced that it has acquired the EPL's TV broadcasting rights in Sweden and Denmark in a three-year deal that begins with the '13-14 season (MTG).

The Ivy League ADs "shot down the proposal" for an annual four-team conference basketball tournament. The Ivy League will "remain the only Division I conference that awards its automatic NCAA tournament berth to the regular season champion" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 5/10).

The UFC yesterday morning began the online pre-sale for the July 21 UFC 149 event at Scotiabank Saddledome, its "debut in Calgary." Within one hour, fans "were unable to purchase two or more seats together, as only scattered single tickets were left" (CALGARY HERALD, 5/11).

HBO is running a full-page ad in this morning's USA Today congratulating Floyd Mayweather Jr. for beating Miguel Cotto in last weekend's bout and promoting the net's rebroadcast of the fight on Saturday at 10:15pm ET (THE DAILY).
