PGA Tour Season Teeing Off In Kapalua; Coverage On Golf Channel

The PGA Tour season gets under way today with the start of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua in Hawaii, a winners-only event. Twelve players in the 28-person field "are at Kapalua for the first time." Eleven players eligible to compete "decided not to play – or because of injuries, could not play" (AP, 1/6).

Golf Channel will broadcast all four rounds starting today, and its coverage will pair NBC's Johnny Miller with CBS' Nick Faldo. Faldo: "I'm quite used to being pretty sharp and pretty quick to keep the show going." Miller: "It should be energizing and invigorating to have him next to me and have him poke me and chide me for a little bit" (USA TODAY, 1/5).
