Nuggets Trade Carmelo Anthony To Knicks In Three-Way Deal

A three-way trade sending Nuggets F Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks was "agreed upon last night," with an announcement expected today. Anthony is scheduled to make his Knicks debut tomorrow night at MSG. Knicks Owner James Dolan "caved in and added" C Timofey Mozgov to the deal, which also involves the T'Wolves. A source said that Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov was "contemplating doing a deal without an extension in place for Anthony – confident he would not turn down $65 million with labor strife possibly coming" (N.Y. POST, 2/22).

Anthony appeared on TBS' "Conan" last night in an appearance taped prior to the trade going through, and host Conan O'Brien said, "You are the story in sports right now, as you're well aware.” O’Brien: “There was a lot of speculation today that this would be decided, maybe even minutes before you came on this show. Is there anything you can tell us right now?" Anthony: "I wish, but no, not at all." At the end of the interview, O'Brien said, "You can catch Carmelo tomorrow night with the Denver Nuggets against the Memphis Grizzlies. Maybe” (“Conan,” TBS, 2/21).
