Red Sox' Sam Kennedy Joins Board Of Murren-Led SPAC Acies

This marks Sam Kennedy's first placement on a BOD, which he views as rounding out his résuméGETTY IMAGES

Red Sox President & CEO SAM KENNEDY now sits on the BOD of Acies Acquisition Corp., a public company "looking to invest in the 'experiential entertainment' industry," according to Michael Silverman of the BOSTON GLOBE. Acies is a $200M SPAC that launched last fall, led by former MGM Resorts Int'l CEO JIM MURREN. This is Kennedy's "first professional board foray," and he "views it as a résumé-rounding experience with a clear start and end date." Examples of "what kind of an 'experiential entertainment' company Acies could pursue range from a traditional restaurant chain, mobile gaming, and sports betting operation to a recreational bricks-and-mortar outfit such as a music venue or amusement park." The company is "focused on a U.S.-based property that is either consumer-facing or a business-to-business platform." Among the other Acies board members are Monumental Sports & Entertainment Senior VP/Strategic Initiatives ZACH LEONSIS. Kennedy, like Murren, is a graduate of Trinity College (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/20).
