Pitbull Enters NASCAR World As Trackhouse Racing Co-Owner

Pitbull's interest in social causes aligned with team's goal of promoting STEM education to minority youthGETTY IMAGES

Musician Pitbull will be a co-Owner of Trackhouse Racing, joining team Founder & co-Owner Justin Marks and driver Daniel Suarez for the team's "inaugural Cup season" in '21, according to Alex Andrejev of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. Pitbull has had a "longstanding interest in social and philanthropic causes that Marks said overlapped with the team's goals of amplifying the sport to a larger audience and promoting STEM education to youth in America's minority communities." Trackhouse Racing said that it "would help launch a STEM curriculum at inner-city charter schools partnered with the Sports Leadership Arts and Management organization, an education non-profit Pitbull helped establish seven years ago." Andrejev noted this is not the first time Pitbull has made an appearance in NASCAR. He performed the song "Get Ready" with country music singer Blake Shelton at Phoenix Raceway last March. He also was featured in a video intro ahead of NASCAR's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the summer as NASCAR "worked to expand its audience and engage with fans of diverse backgrounds." Pitbull marks "another internationally renowned name joining the sport as a team owner" in '21, as Michael Jordan last year announced his majority ownership of 23XI Racing (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 1/16).
