Marlins CEO DEREK JETER and prospect JAZZ CHISHOLM were "among the two dozen current and former players who participated in the Players Alliance’s Pull Up Neighbor Tour stop at Overtown’s Gibson Park." The Players Alliance is a "non-profit organization comprised of more than 150 active and former Major League Baseball players with a vision of creating 'an inclusive culture within baseball and the community.'" Jeter has been "vocal as part of the Marlins’ ownership group about players being involved in the community." He also is "one to make sure his actions speak louder than his words" (MIAMI HERALD, 1/7).

HELPING HAND: Barstool Sports Founder DAVE PORTNOY was profiled on “Today” for his efforts to help struggling businesses around the country during the pandemic. Portnoy donated $500,000 of his own and partnered with CNBC contributor and investor MARCUS LEMONIS to create The Barstool Fund. NBC's HARRY SMITH indicated, "The fund is now over $18 million ... more than 145,000 of them have pitched in but also joined by KID ROCK, TOM BRADY and GUY FIERI" ("Today," NBC, 1/6).
