Media Notes: TNT Viewers Miss Pieces Of Bucks' Record-Setter

In Milwaukee, Ricardo Torres notes the Bucks set an NBA record for three-pointers made in a game against the Heat and won 144-97, and while those watching on FS Wisconsin "didn't miss a dribble," those watching on TNT "missed large chunks of the game as the network switched to different NBA games searching for some more competitive." Bucks fans were "annoyed by the decision and vented on Twitter." The net would "occasionally return to the Bucks game for a few minutes before checking in on other games around the league" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 12/30).

ONE SHOT: In Raleigh, Chip Alexander writes in what has become a "yearly affair," the Hurricanes have been "generally ignored by the TV folks in setting up the NBC schedule," and they are yet again on the schedule only once. After reaching the Stanley Cup playoffs the past two years and "drawing attention for some fast-paced play under coach Rod Brind'Amour and their postgame Storm Surges," the Hurricanes "have been ignored again" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 12/30).

EYE-CATCHING: In Edmonton, Terry Jones notes the IIHF World Juniors match between Team Germany and Team Canada last Saturday "drew an average audience of 2.1 million people." Canada's 16-2 "eyesore win" over the German team "drew an astounding average audience." TSN VP & Exec Producer Paul Graham said, "Two million viewers for a game in today's world is huge. We have great expectations based on that number for the entire tournament. We know the ratings will be consistently good for Team Canada." Jones writes the job being done by Team TSN "has been exceptional" (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 12/30).
