Latest NBA Uniforms: Clippers Flip The Script With Black City Edition

The Clippers today unveiled their new City Edition jersey, and the "primarily black" look is "essentially the inverse of last season’s threads," according to Andrew Greif of the L.A. TIMES. There are a "few differences" from last season, "such as the color of the team logo at the beltline and a new jersey patch sponsor, and a few elements that have remained the same, such as the red and blue piping underneath each arm." L.A. artist Mister Cartoon again collaborated on the design; when he first came on board two years ago, "one of the first mock-ups made by the artist was a black jersey with white lettering and numbers." In the prior iteration, the team and Nike "opted for a white uniform with black accents" (L.A. TIMES, 12/1). SI.com's Farbod Esnaashari notes the Clippers' full City Edition jersey and merchandise collection "will be available" starting Thursday (SI.com, 12/1).

HEAT CHECK: In Miami, Anthony Chiang writes the Heat today "unveiled the fifth and final uniform of its enormously successful Vice campaign: the 'ViceVersa' City Edition." The uniform features a "gradient pattern" of pink and blue, "a staple in all of the previous Vice campaigns.” The “Vice Violet” color is also a "big part of the new Vice court, which will be used when the Heat wears its new Vice jerseys for games this season at AmericanAirlines Arena." The jersey release "will be impacted" by the pandemic, as production delays will make it not "immediately available." The team is currently taking "preorders only" for the jersey (MIAMI HERALD, 12/1).

WATER EVERYWHERE: The Bucks' City Edition is the team's first uniform set to feature what the team calls its Great Lakes Blue color prominently. The uniform set is inspired by the meaning of the word Milwaukee -- "the gathering place by the water" -- with the phrase "Gathering Place" on the jersey. The full uniform features three shades of blue. The numbers on the jersey are treated with a reflective coating that will give the illusion that the numbers are wet. The shorts feature the water outlines from the Bucks' tertiary logo (Bucks).

CLOSEST TO PIN: In Indianapolis, Chris Sims notes the Pacers formally unveiled the "Power IN Pinstripes" uniform, their new City Edition "outfit featuring sublimated pinstripes for the first time" since '13. The latest design is an "homage to the Pacers teams from 1997-2006, drawing inspiration from Indiana state flag's royal blue color." The pinstripes "bring back the nostalgia of the Pacers reaching the NBA Finals" in '00. Public availability starts Thursday (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/1). In a separate piece, Sims notes early fan reaction on Twitter includes these being called the "best Pacers jerseys in years" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/1).
