Sinclair-Owned RSNs To Be Made Available To Purchase Independently

Sinclair Broadcast Group President & CEO Chris Ripley said that the company's 21 RSNs "will be available for customers to purchase independently," according to Dan Caesar of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. FS Midwest right now is "available only through a subscription to a service that carries it, and the station currently is not picked up by Dish Network and streaming providers including Hulu and YouTube TV." Ripley said of the plan to make RSNs available to be purchased independently, "We have a pretty aggressive plan. It will happen next year." But Caesar notes indications are that offering "could be later than sooner, so customers should not expect that option to be in place ... possibly even by the beginning" of the MLB season next spring. However, Sinclair "has plenty of motivation to roll that out as soon as it can, as it has partnered with casino operator Bally's to integrate sports betting into its telecasts in jurisdictions where it is legal" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 11/20).
