Clippers Expand Partnership With Tech Firm Honey Via Jersey Patch

Activations include a 15% discount of team jerseys with the Honey logo on Clippers.com starting Black FridayClippers

The Clippers are "expanding their partnership with tech company Honey, with the newest element focusing on jersey logo patches for the 2020-21 season and beyond," according to Shane Young of FORBES. In September '19, Honey signed on as a naming-rights partner for the team's "renovated practice facility." From there, "everything progressed, and the symbiotic relationship saw new levels emerge throughout the season." Honey worked with F Kawhi Leonard by "incorporating him into their celebrity ad spots." As for the patches, fans will be "able to purchase jerseys with the Honey patch included." Sticking with Honey’s "vision, shoppers will be able to use the code 'HONEY15' to save 15% on Official Clippers Jerseys featuring the tech company’s logo through the Clippers Fan Shop." Honey, an L.A.-based company founded in October '12, offers a suite of free tools to help consumers save time and money while shopping online (FORBES.com, 11/20). 

NATURAL PROGRESSION: SI.com's Farbod Esnaashari notes the Clippers "previously engaged in a multi-year sponsorship in 2018 with the app Bumble as their jersey sponsor." Throughout that two-year span, Honey has "found themselves increasingly a part of the Clippers' presence." The brand "has sponsored: practice jerseys, the training facility, and created the popular 'Steal of a Deal' ticket campaign for fans." It is "only natural that the Clippers' partnership with Honey reached its full-circle moment as the official jersey sponsor of the team" (SI.com, 11/20).
