Vistaprint Replaces GE As Celtics' Jersey Patch Sponsor

Vistaprint's jersey patch deal with the Celtics is the largest sports sponsorship the company has ever doneCELTICS

Vistaprint has signed a four-year, multimillion-dollar deal with the Celtics to be the team’s "new game jersey sponsor” beginning with the ’20-21 season, according to Jon Chesto of the BOSTON GLOBE. Vistaprint is taking over for GE, which “opted not to renew its contract after three years.” Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Vistaprint CMO Ricky Engelberg indicated that this is the “largest sports sponsorship that Vistaprint has ever done.” Chesto reports the deal will “include ways to highlight small businesses, possibly including a ‘small business hero’ eventually being announced at each game.” Celtics President Rich Gotham said that the team “wanted to find a company with a strong local base that could also benefit from the national and global attention the team and its games receive.” In addition to becoming the Celtics’ jersey patch sponsor, Gotham indicated that Vistaprint also agreed to “partner with the team on its Boston Celtics United for Social Justice project,” a 10-year, $25M initiative unveiled in September. Chesto notes since GE initially signed with the Celtics in ’17, the company has “been slimmed down significantly through divestitures,” so it was “no surprise when GE decided not to renew a sports team sponsorship like this one." Excel Sports Management negotiated the deal for the Celtics (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/18).

NUGGETS EXTEND BANK DEAL: The Nuggets signed a three-year extension of their deal with Western Union to be the team's jersey patch sponsor. Western Union’s logo will be featured on all Nuggets jerseys and will continue to receive signage and features on social media, Altitude TV, and radio broadcasts (Nuggets).
