Eldora Speedway Expected To Be Off NASCAR Truck Series Schedule

Eldora Speedway had been the only dirt track race on any of the three NASCAR national seriesGETTY IMAGES

Eldora Speedway is expected to be dropped from next year’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule, according to sources, the first time the dirt track would not be on the slate since ’12. The Ohio-based track, which is owned by Tony Stewart, had become one of the highlights of the NASCAR season, as it was the only dirt track race on any of the three national series. At the time that Eldora held its first Truck event in '13, it was the first NASCAR race on dirt at any level since '70. The Cup Series will hold a dirt race next year at Bristol Motor Speedway, so the Truck Series could shift to holding a race there in replacement of Eldora, although this has yet to be confirmed or announced. NASCAR President Steve Phelps indicated during a radio interview last week that the Truck schedule could come out as soon as later this week. This comes just after Eldora confirmed last week that it will host a race next season with the fledgling Superstar Racing Experience series, which Stewart co-owns.
