Cameo Entering College Space With INFLCR, Teamworks Partnership

INFLCR and Teamworks have created a strategic partnership with Cameo to bring the video-sharing platform into college athletics. Cameo launched in '16 as a way for celebrities to send personalized messages to their fans. Through this new arrangement, any of the tens of thousands of college athletes that have access to Teamworks or INFLCR will also have the ability to create their own accounts on Cameo and begin sending out free customized content. Once name, image and likeness rules go into effect in '21, Cameo content could turn into a revenue source for college athletes, said Cameo CEO Steven Galanis. “NIL legislation offers tremendous opportunity for student-athletes to earn off the field income while building up their personal brands,” Galanis said. Teamworks acquired INFLCR in '19 and one of their goals was to aggregate all of the college athlete traffic on the two sites for just this type of opportunity. Teamworks CEO Zach Maurides said this deal provides “additional avenues for athletes to connect with their digital fan bases and equip them with the tools to monetize fan-related branding opportunities.”
