NFL Week 10 Report: Ian Eagle Aces "Hail Murray" Touchdown Call

The call that CBS' Ian Eagle had on the Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins' game-winning touchdown in yesterday's game against the Bills "was as perfect as the pass thrown by quarterback Kyler Murray," according to Alan Pergament of the BUFFALO NEWS. Eagle said, "Miraculous. It is Murray Magic. Four defenders in the area and DeAndre Hopkins is the man who comes away with it. ... Ree-diculous." Eagle and Charles Davis yesterday "moved up from No. 2 to become CBS’ No. 1 team" with Jim Nantz calling The Masters and Tony Romo having the week off, and they were "up to the task." Eagle was the "star of the show, providing excitement on the big plays and adding some analysis and some ... humor." Eagle has "quickly developed chemistry with Davis," who also had some "solid moments describing plays and replays, anticipating penalties and comparing the Bills performance Sunday to how they played against New England two weeks earlier" (BUFFALO NEWS, 11/16). In K.C., Pete Grathoff writes it was a "great call by Eagle," while the Cardinals radio broadcasters "lost their minds." Cards play-by-play voice Dave Pasch asked: “Is it caught? IS IT CAUGHT!?! OH MY GOODNESS, IT’S CAUGHT!” (K.C. STAR, 11/16).

MORE WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS: NBCSPORTS.com's Peter King named Fox' Brock Huard his "analyst of the week" for a call he made during Jaguars-Packers yesterday. Packers OT David Bakhtiari tried to throw Jaguars LB Myles Jack off a teammate carrying the ball when Jack "exaggeratedly flopped backward and began writhing in pain." Huard "immediately said Jack was pulling a 'Vlade,'"referring to former NBAer, and noted flopper, Vlade Divac. Meanwhile, King writes whoever got the shot of Titans WR Corey Davis during Thursday's game  on Fox against the Colts, "with a tear rolling down his left cheek, should be immensely proud." Davis' brother had died of cancer a day earlier, and he was "emotional about playing a day after his death" (NBCSPORTS.com, 11/16).

TIME TO CUT THE SEGMENT? In N.Y., Bob Raissman wrote the "saddest 10 minutes on sports talk radio" is Jets QB Sam Darnold's weekly paid appearance on ESPN Radio 98.7 N.Y.'s "The Michael Kay Show." Darnold, who has been sidelined by injury, "remains likeable," but whatever he is getting paid to do the spot now "isn't worth it." Raissman: "That's the reality. It's painful to listen to" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 11/15).
