Franchise Notes

Gillette Stadium officials yesterday said that the venue "will not host any fans" for Patriots or Revolution games through the end of '20. In Boston, Andrew Callahan notes the announcement yesterday "followed weeks of officials collaborating with the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory board and consulting with infectious disease experts" (BOSTON HERALD, 11/10). The Patriots "have four remaining home games" this season, while the Revolution are "set to host a postseason matchup" against the Impact on Nov. 20 (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/10).

ROAD TO ZION? In New Orleans, Christian Clark reported the Pelicans and the city of New Orleans "expressed optimism that they will be able to come to an agreement to allow fans back into Smoothie King Center" when the '20-21 NBA season begins. As the season goes on, the "number of fans allowed in the building could escalate." The city and the team both are "relying on the 'phased' approach the Saints have adopted as a model" (NOLA.com, 11/6).

JUST TREADING WATER: In Detroit, Justin Rogers writes there are "a lot of people upset" that Lions Owner & Chair Sheila Ford Hamp "didn't hand out some pink slips" yesterday morning. Rogers: "Who can still make a reasonable case for the status quo? After nearly five years with Exec VP & GM Bob Quinn and two and a half with coach Matt Patricia, the Lions are "hopelessly without direction." When Patricia and Quinn "were told they'd be back last December, there were conditions, but the one that trumped all others was the team was expected to be a playoff contender in 2020" (DETROIT NEWS, 11/10).
