Blues Among NHL Clubs Still Targeting Jan. 1 For Start Of Season

Blues GM Doug Armstrong feels there is "less uncertainty than there was during the pause last spring and early summer" about when the NHL will return to the ice, as the league is "not giving up on the idea of beginning play on Jan. 1," according to Jim Thomas of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. Armstrong: "We’ve penciled in Jan. 1, so you have a date to point to. So it’s not like are you coming back next week or in two weeks or three weeks? So no, that uncertainty hasn’t hit yet.” Armstrong said his message to players after their first round playoff loss was "prepare to what the NHL and the NHLPA have told you -- Jan. 1. And prepare your body knowing that it’s going to be a very condensed scheduled and be ready.” About a Zoom call last week involving GMs, Armstrong said, "The call was basically: 'We'll inform you when we have more information.'" He added, "I like the league and the union's approach right now. There's no sense making proclamations until you know what you're dealing with" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 10/29).
