Stars Unveil Blackout Alternate Jerseys For Upcoming '21 Season

The Stars will again wear black uniforms after the team unveiled an alternate design "dubbed its Blackout jersey," according to Matthew DeFranks of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The jersey includes neon green for the logo and striping, and it is the first shade of green used that is "not Victory Green since the redesign" in '13. Another change is the team's Texas-outlined secondary logo is "on the chest instead of the primary one." The jerseys went on sale today at 9:00am CT. The same five-person design committee that produced the "wildly popular" Winter Classic jerseys also "designed the Blackout threads, often simultaneously." That team includes Stars Senior VP/Marketing Dan Stuchal, Owner Tom Gaglardi, color analyst Daryl "Razor" Reaugh, Creative Dir Jeff Neal and Legends Stars' Merchandising Dir Kristopher Smith (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/29).

BACK TO BLACK: ESPN.com's Tim Kavanagh wrote the Stars alternate design is "going to pop in certain lighting conditions." Designed in conjunction with Adidas, it is a "throwback to have black as the primary color on the jersey, as the club did for its first 20 seasons in Dallas." The Stars also have "introduced a new color, Skyline Green, which is meant to evoke the city's nighttime landscape." The uniform also "evokes the WWE's D-Generation X stable and Monster Energy drink" (ESPN.com, 10/28). The Stars said the special "Blackout" uniforms are: "Inspired by Dallas. Designed for Texas." The "Come and Take It" flag, appearing inside the collar, is "taken from the Texas Revolutionaries in their fight against Mexico." The uniforms are "expected to be worn 12 to 15 times during the 2021 season, which has yet to be set." The Stars' new jerseys "received mixed reaction on social media" (Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM, 10/29).
