Miller Family Reaches Deal To Sell Jazz To Qualtrics' Ryan Smith

The Miller family this morning announced it has reached a deal to sell the Jazz to Qualtrics Founder Ryan Smith after 35 years of ownership. The deal also includes Vivint Smart Home Arena, the G League Salt Lake City Stars and the Triple-A PCL Salt Lake Bees. The NBA BOG is expected to approve the sale before the end of the year. Smith plans to acquire The Zone Sports Network from the Miller family in a separate agreement (Jazz). ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports the 40-year-old Smith is a "lifelong Utah resident and Jazz fan who built a software company that sold for a reported $8B." Smith and his wife "have had a longstanding relationship" with the franchise (TWITTER.com, 10/28). Both Smith and the Miller family "have been linked in recent months to the sale of Utah Soccer Holdings, which includes Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC and Rio Tinto Stadium, among other properties, but it’s unknown if the two are related" (DESERET NEWS, 10/28).
