Pitt Will Host 5,500 Fans At Heinz Field For Final Two Home Games

Pitt is "planning to host approximately 5,500 fans" at Heinz Field for "each of its final two home games" of the season, Oct. 24 against Notre Dame and Nov. 21 against Virginia Tech, according to John McGonigal of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. The news comes a week after Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf "announced new gathering limits for Pennsylvania," based on a "percentage of maximum occupancy." Approximately 1,000 of Pitt’s 5,500 spots "will go to students," and that figure "includes the Pitt band and the spirit squads." Members of the Student Panther Club will have the "first opportunity to obtain student tickets." The 4,500 non-student seats "will be doled out by priority," starting with season-ticket holders who "chose to 'reinvest' their ticket payments for the first four games into the Panther Club." Those who "chose Pitt’s 'rollover' option" -- applying their '20 payments to the '21 season -- "will be next up to secure tickets in the lower bowl or club seats." Then, those season-ticket holders who "opted for a refund will have their opportunity." Any seats that remain after the season-ticket holder allocation "will be made available to the general public." In accordance with CDC guidelines, tailgating will be "prohibited in the parking lots," and all fans at Heinz Field will be "required to wear masks and abide by social distancing protocols" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 10/16).
