Baker Mayfield Latest Athlete To Invest In CBD Company Beam

Mayfield does not have to worry about THC levels in Beam's products; trace amounts will be eliminatedBEAM

Browns QB Baker Mayfield has become an investor in and endorser of CBD company Beam. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Mayfield joins Danica Patrick and golfer Billy Horschel as the latest athlete investor and endorser for Beam. "Having Baker come on is a big moment for the company," Beam co-Founder & co-CEO Kevin Moran said. Moran, a former minor leaguer, and Matt Lombardi, a former NHL prospect, who got to know each other while attending Boston College, founded Beam in '18 after training for the Boston Marathon together. Beam contains trace amounts of THC, but Lombardi said the company has come up with a system to eliminate those small amounts. The products are aimed at athletes and people who want to live healthy lifestyles, and products are focused on performance, balance, sleep and recovery, he said. Having even trace amounts of THC removed from the products was key, said Camwood Group's Chris Talbott, who reps Mayfield for off-the-field endeavors. "Important and critical to note, there are zero trace amounts of THC in Beam," Talbott said. "So even before the NFLPA increased the minimum thresholds for THC in player testing, Beam would have been a non-issue. A lot of these CBD companies out there will still have trace amounts of THC in their product." Talbott was not searching for a CBD partner for Mayfield, but he decided Beam was a fit after meeting with Moran and Lombardi. "We invest in people," Talbott said. "We think they’re smart, passionate, driven, and very relatable due to them being former professional athletes."

GROWING PORTFOLIO: The Beam endorsement and investment is just part of an expanding portfolio for Mayfield. He is starring in three commercials for Progressive with a fourth one on the way, Talbott noted. Mayfield also is in a Hulu spot with Giants RB Saquon Barkley, and he appears in the Nissan Heisman House commercials. Mayfield's other endorsements include Bose, Bodyarmor, Panini, Nike and HydroHoist. His other investments include PumpJack DataWorks, Legends and Goodmylk.
