Baseball HOFer JOE MORGAN, who after his playing career "became a broadcaster," has died at the age of 77, according to Cincinnati-based WKRC-AM. Morgan was a "beloved member" of the Red's so-called "Big Red Machine" teams of the '70s (LOCAL12.com, 10/12). Morgan became a Reds TV broadcaster in '85, then was a Giants broadcaster "for the next nine years." He was the "color commentator alongside Jon Miller for 20 years on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 10/12). Indianapolis-based WISH-CW's Charlie Clifford tweeted of Morgan and Miller, "This pair will forever be a piece of my childhood love affair with Wrigley. Unmatched energy and excitement. Unforgettable Sunday Nights. Rest easy, Hall of Famer." Sports podcaster Jackson McCurry: "Morgan and Jon Miller were the staple of Sunday Night Baseball growing up." BRProud.com’s Harrison Golden: "A brilliant second baseman who found his second act in the booth." MLB Rangers broadcaster Mike Bacsik: "My God. Baseball is losing so many legends." MLB.com's Mike Petriello tweeted, "He'll always be a Red, though it's easy to forget he played more years in Hou. What a loss. This year stinks" (TWITTER.com, 10/12).
